The Cayman Islands are a warm and friendly place that offer not only beautiful beaches but also some great fishing in the cobalt blue waters just outside the barrier reef. If you’re ever in Grand Cayman, Slackem Charters is your go-to charter operation for excellent fishing and incredible service.
Captain Jon Arch has been a charter captain in Grand Cayman for over 35 years and 10 years ago established Slackem, which is a true family-run company in every sense of the word. Your first contact is usually with Jon’s wife Stephanie or daughter Brianna, who handle the customer service and bookings. Captain Jon himself is on the water every day, and his passion for fishing is evident to every customer he takes out.
Slackem primarily targets pelagics big game fish including marlin, yellowfin tuna, mahi and wahoo. Blue Marlin are found year-round and a few white marlin and sailfish are mixed in during the summer months. Reef fishing is always a good way to bring home some fish for the table, including mutton snapper and grouper that are caught around the reefs in the North Sound. In season, Slackem also offers conch and lobster hunting to really add some variety for the dinner table.
Slackem offers three boats: 46’ Post Sport Fisher Slackem, 62’ Ocean Sport Fisher Keepin’ it Reel, and the 31’ Luhrs Express iFISH. In addition to Captain Jon, Slackem employs two experienced captains, Captain Jonathan and Captain Peri, both of whom grew up on the local Cayman waters. All the boats are
available for full-day or half-day charters, and in addition to deep sea trips for serious anglers, they offer combination trips for families that want to mix in some sightseeing, snorkeling and cruising. Make sure that Slackem Charters is part of your next Cayman vacation!
