Revenge of the Baitfish

As we like to remind you, fishing is not for wimps. The hazards range in intensity from barbed hooks embedded in your arms to several hundred pounds of muscle and teeth deciding to take offense at your gaffing technique. But sometimes it’s not just your body that ends up wounded, it’s your pride.

The guy in this video obviously thinks he’s a pretty cool dude. He’s young, he’s tan, he’s shirtless, and he’s co-starring in a potentially viral video alongside hundreds of frenzied baitfish. You can tell he’s already calculating how many Facebook “likes” this is going to get him. Everything is going so well…

Until a slightly larger specimen manages to slap him upside his head, that is. Peals of laughter erupt from the shore as the young man shamefacedly retreats to the homemade raft, rubbing his wound dejectedly. A taxonomically inclined little tyke screams out “What kinda fish is that?”

But what intrigues me the most is the kindred soul who is desperately slapping at the water with a pole net in the background. I’m still trying to figure out how in 29 seconds he only manages to score one fish
