El Pescador is the premier sportsman’s fishing lodge in Ambergris Caye, Belize, a small barrier island famous for its skinny-water flats fishing. The beachfront location on 45 private acres offers not only comfortable lodging, recreational opportunities, and a family run hospitality experience, but also a chance at the saltwater fly fishing “Grand Slam” of a bonefish, tarpon and permit in one day.

Ambergris Caye is one of only a few locations in the world where this feat can be accomplished 12 months out of the year. Guests can sight cast to “the big 3” at any of the sparkling flats found in this 400 square mile fishery, instructed by El Pescador’s English-speaking guides who all grew up on the island. El Pescador is equipped to cater to every skill level of saltwater angler, from beginner to experienced.

Guests at El Pescador can choose from rooms in the graceful colonial lodge, or upgrade to 1, 2 or 3 bedroom villas. All are right on the beach, facing the sparking Caribbean and the second largest barrier reef in the world. The lodge offers diving, snorkeling and SCUBA instruction on-site, and complimentary kayaks and bicycles are available for exploring Ambergris Caye.

The diminutive island is bursting with culture and activity for traveling anglers to enjoy, but El Pescador is situated just far enough away from San Pedro town to allow for a quiet evening under the palm trees when the mood strikes. Regardless of their choice in evening activities, it is the early morning hours that are most cherished for most El Pescador guests, as the sparking turquoise flats and the trophy inhabitants beckon from just beyond the sands.
