St Lucia is a tropical paradise in the West Indies with gorgeous beaches, excellent diving, and the landmark “Pitons”, the island nation’s famous twin mountain peaks. Captain Mike’s Sport Fishing is one of the oldest and most well established charter businesses in St Lucia, with a proud history marked as much by its colorful owners as the great fishing experiences it has delivered for countless traveling anglers.

The tradition started with the legendary “Big Bill” Hackshaw and was continued and run by his son Captain Mike, who was just about the most flamboyant character St. Lucia has ever seen. Much of his easy going and happy disposition has passed onto his twin sons Andrew and Bruce, who now run the company. While the business has expanded Capt. Mike’s is still small enough to give customers personalized service they have come to expect.

Located in the north of St Lucia, just outside of Castries Harbour, Captain Mike’s maintains five Bertram sportfishing boats from 31’ to 46’, and one 60’ Defender “Free Willie” that is used primarily for whale & dolphin watching. All are well equipped for safety and comfort and are outfitted with Penn International & Shimano fishing gear.

St Lucia has excellent offshore fishing and Capt. Mike’s often makes sensational catches in view of the Pitons just 3 miles offshore. Blue marlin are the prize year round, and Capt. Mike’s holds the St. Lucian record with a 940lb specimen landed in 2003. Wahoo, dorado (mahi), sailfish and tuna are also caught year round, with the best fishing taking place December – May.

For all that St. Lucia has to offer, we would consider a trip with Captain Mike’s to be an essential part of any itinerary!
