Andrea Traverso grew up on the South Pacific Archipelago of Vanuatu and has been fishing its waters since he could walk. Years ago he set out to establish the top charter company in Vanuatu that specializes not only in trolling for marlin but also jigging and popping for Giant Trevallys and Dogtooth Tuna.

Captain Traverso’s boat is AMALU, a 46’ custom Cresta Sportfisher.  It was completely rebuilt in 2018-2019 and is well equipped for fishing as well as live-aboard adventures to remote islands. The boat is fully equipped with top notch equipment including Shimano Tiagra and Saragosa reels.

A typical day aboard Amalu consists of a short trip to one of the deployed FADS where you will troll through the rich blue marlin fishing groups while the crew rigs the popping and jigging set ups. In addition to marlin, these areas can yield yellowfin tuna, mahi, wahoo and sailfish.

The inshore fishing around the countless drop offs, reef ledges, seamounts and coral bommies is spectacular, with dogtooth tuna, Giant Trevallys, and a variety of giant snapper and grouper-like species.

Dropcast offers daily half-day and full day charters from Vanuatu’s capital Port-Vila, but it is the liveaboard trips of 3 or more days that offer the ultimate fishing adventure. By venturing out to remote islands, anglers can experience virgin fishing grounds that are home to enormous GTs, dogtooth snapper, bar cod, Maori Sea Perch, coral trout, and other monsters of the deep.
