The Outer Banks of North Carolina are a legendary destination for anglers, and Roanoke Sportfishing offers a fishing experience that combines adventure, history, and local charm. Based out of the renowned Oregon Inlet, this charter company delivers unparalleled access to one of the East Coast’s most abundant fisheries.
Captain Elliott Ambrose, the owner and operator of Roanoke Sportfishing, brings a lifetime of passion and expertise to every trip. Having grown up fishing the Roanoke River and cutting his teeth as a mate before becoming a captain, Elliott’s extensive knowledge spans inshore, nearshore, and offshore fishing. With over a decade of experience at the helm, he is as enthusiastic about the sport as he is about sharing it with anglers of all skill levels.
The Roanoke itself is a 50’ Carolina Sportfisher crafted by the iconic local boat builder Sheldon Midgett, and is truly a historic Oregon Inlet charter boat with a rich history. The vessel was designed with both comfort and serious fishing in mind, and is equally well equipped for big game fishing and everyday nearshore trips. Inside, the well-appointed salon offers a place to relax while soaking in the stunning seascape.
Depending on the season, anglers can target species such as blue and white marlin, yellowfin and bluefin tuna, mahi-mahi, wahoo, and more. Nearshore trips are available, including exciting cobia trips when they are running. Roanoke Sportfishing tailors each trip to the preferences of the group, whether you’re an avid angler chasing a personal best or a family looking for a memorable day at sea.
