Topspin Fishing Charters is based in Nantucket, an idyllic island situated off the coast of Massachusetts’ Cape Cod. Although Nantucket is known as a posh playground for the well-heeled, the charming island is accessible for everyday families and is also an amazing fishing destination.
Capt. Carl Bois is the skipper and lives full time on Nantucket along with his wife Sarah (an ecologist and co-owner of Topspin), their son, and loyal dog. Carl studied Outdoor Recreation & Park Management at Unity College and has used his education to guide adventures throughout his career, including white water rafting, snowmobiling, hikes in the Cascadian wilderness, rock climbing and ice climbing, wilderness-based therapeutic school, and of course fishing.
The Nantucket fishing can be adventurous too, especially when the Topspin crew is targeting the ultimate local species – giant Bluefin Tuna. During the prime summer months, fishing can be great for these giants, and a full day trip can also afford the chance to see some of the other amazing wildlife that is found in the rich waters offshore – whales, pelagic birds, and sharks.
When he isn’t fishing for tuna, Capt. Bois takes advantage of some of the other great local fisheries, especially for striped bass, the flagship gamefish of New England. These fish can be targeted in half and full day charters, and anglers will also have a shot at other tasty species including fluke, black seabass, and the toothy bluefish. Topspin is a 35′ Terry Jason that can comfortably take up to 6 people. It is of course well outfitted for inshore and offshore fishing, and it sports a trademark camouflage pattern around the hull. With the irresistible charm of the island and the great Capt. Bois at the helm, you’re sure to have an amazing time in Nantucket.
