The coastal town of Sargent is not too well known outside of Southeast Texas, but there are good reasons that Captain Jacob Bailey has chosen it as the home base for his charter company, Texas Offshore Outfitters. The no-frills location on Caney Creek is close enough to Houston to attract business, but offers light crowds and closer access to the deeper water where the crew targets all of the deep sea quarry found in these rich Gulf of Mexico waters.
Texas Offshore Outfitters has two excellent boats to choose from: a 35’ Marlin center console and the flagship, a 36’ Contender, Full Send. The fast boats make the long runs easier, and the crew often test their limits with runs far offshore in search of big offshore species.
Trips include 6-hour red snapper trips during the season, and the standard offshore trip is 10 hours with runs up to 60 miles in pursuit of amberjack, wahoo, blackfin tuna, grouper, and vermillion snapper. Captain Bailey’s favorite type of trip is their swordfish / deep drop trips which target swords at 80+ miles offshore. Other tasty bottom fish including queen snapper and deepwater grouper species often fill out the fish box.
Texas Offshore Outfitters stocks the boats with the latest Accurate Reels and custom rods from Bo Rodz Customz. Safety is the highest priority, and both boats are equipped with advanced safety equipment including a life raft and Garmin InReach.
