For more than 30 years, Sara Star Fishing Charters has introduced anglers to the productive waters surrounding Newport, Rhode Island. From rocky reefs and tidal ledges to the open Atlantic, this historic coastline offers outstanding fishing throughout the season. At the heart of the operation is the father-daughter team of Captain Joe Aiello and Captain Coral Aiello, whose shared passion for fishing and deep connection to these waters have made Sara Star one of Rhode Island's most respected fishing charters.

Captain Joe brings more than four decades of fishing experience, while Captain Coral quite literally grew up fishing alongside her dad. She eventually joined him as first mate before earning her own captain’s license, and today the roles have flipped: Coral serves as the primary captain, with Joe working alongside her. Coral has also become a recognized voice in East Coast fishing, building a huge social media following under the memorable handle “Professional Hooker,” while contributing her fishing knowledge as a writer for The Fisherman magazine.

Newport's fishery changes with the seasons, giving anglers the chance to pursue a wide variety of species. Spring brings exceptional tautog fishing around rocky structure, followed by striped bass, bluefish, fluke, sea bass, and offshore opportunities as the waters warm. Every trip is tailored to the day's conditions, and modern technology, including a Minn Kota Spot-Lock trolling motor, helps keep the boat positioned precisely over productive structure. 

The Aiello family experienced heartbreak this summer with the sudden loss of their beloved boat Coral Rose. However, Joe and Coral  responded quickly with the recent introduction of a new flagship vessel: a 35’ Duffy built for serious fishing. Larger, faster, and purpose-built for the waters off Newport, the vessel carries the tradition forward while embracing the future with upgraded electronics and equipment designed to help anglers make the most of every day on the water.
